Week of January 17th

This week brought more of the same.  The week started off cold, snowy and windy.  We had a little mid-week warm up to give us hope that the course would open up.  Then the week ended with more winter weather and cold.

We were able to open the course last weekend for the brave. A weather front moved in Sunday night and Monday morning adding a thin blanket of snow and ice to the course.  We will continue to update course conditions as they change and it becomes safe to open.

The crew has made a huge dent into the refurbishing of our course accessories this week.  We will continue to use the cold mornings and snow cover to finish up this winter project.

This winter weather has also given us the time to run back through all our record keeping from the previous year and get everything dialed in for this upcoming season.  This allows us to look back at all of our programs to see what worked, what didn't work, and helps us fine tune our programs.

During the mid-week warm up the crew was able to get back on the course to continue our winter tree program.  As you can see from the before and after pictures of green #7 we removed this tree to increase sunlight during the winter months.  We have had ice issues in the past on the front of this green and approach.

This week our Equipment Manager Brian continued his winter preventive maintenance program diving into our 2 sprayers.  The sprayers are some of the most important pieces in our equipment fleet.  Every winter Brian goes over the sprayers from front to back rebuilding pumps, inspecting all hoses, engine maintenance, and checking the electrical systems to insure proper function during the season.

Once the course and practice facilities open back up you will notice that we covered the new Bermudagrass pitching section on the short game area.  This cover will help protect the Bermudagrass from the cold temperatures.  Please continue to use the mats only and stay off the cover.
