Happy new year to all the RRGC Family and I would like to welcome you to our new RRGC Maintenance Blog. The intentions of this Blog is to keep the RRGC Members up to speed on things going on around the course.
It has been a busy last week of 2021 and first week of 2022.
We have started installing curbs on cart path edges where it seems difficult to keep all 4 tires of the golf cart on the path. We are using the bricks that came off the old Club House Patio. Our assistant Matt and our youngest crew member Fernando started here on 2 and 9 tee. This will be an ongoing project as there are many areas around the course that cart tires seem to ride on the edge of the cart path.
The Patio Project is in full swing. The contractors have installed all the pillars and have now started on the walls around the fire pits. This is a awesome project for the club that I know all of us can't wait to see the finial product. There have been a lot of questions about the 15th tee area. The huge pile of dirt that is directly off the patio will be used for the new 15th tee complex that will include a new silver, black, and gold tee. Once the patio is complete McDonald and Sons will be back to finish the tee complex.
We were also able to start adding irrigation to the new tee boxes we added over the summer. Here is work on the 18th tee that was completed the last week of 2021. Earlier in December we completed the irrigation additions to holes 5, 7, 8, and 12. Holes 2, 9, and 13 remain and we plan on finishing this project once the snow melts.
As we entered the New Year is was 60 degrees over the weekend and then we received our first snow of the winter season. For us it was a welcomed sight. We will keep everyone updated on potential course openings but they are calling for more snow for the end of the week.
Wednesday we started tree removal. We starting with dead trees around the course. These are the last remaining Ash Trees on the property. Top is between holes 14 and hole 16. Bottom is between holes 9 and 15.
Lastly, this week we have started the process of removing the old pump station on hole 6 and replacing it with a new updated pump station. Bottom picture is of the new backflow preventers and new pump with motor. This project should be wrapped up by next week.
