Week of February 7th

We had some great weather for the first full week of February.  Highs in the mid to upper 50's have given us a little taste of Spring.  Even with highs in the 50's, the nighttime lows were still in the upper 20's.  This refreezing every night has made it difficult to allow carts off the paths and on the back 9.  It may seem dry in the morning but once the ground starts to thaw the top couple inches become too wet to have carts on the grass.  Once again our maintenance team continued knocking out items on our winter work list.

We started this week repairing the fiber optic conduit running from the clubhouse to the pro shop that was damaged during the construction of the new practice green.  Here is Eddie, Diego and Fernando repairing and lowering the conduit to get ready for the parking lot project starting soon.

DWP finally turned the water back on at the pump house on hole 6 so we could inspect and test the new pump station components.  I'm happy to report that everything is working correctly.  This project was a huge upgrade to the irrigation system.

We took advantage of the warmer weather to finish the irrigation expansion project.  The crew laid around 250 ft. of pipe and wire and added 5 new sprinkler heads for the new forward tee on hole 9 and the new gold tee on hole 2.  This wraps up the irrigation project for all the new tees that were added.

With ground conditions thawing Papa, Diego and Raul were able to sod most of the areas where we added curbs and pavers earlier this winter.  We have a couple more areas to tackle to help prevent turf damage where it seems difficult to keep all 4 tires on the path.

With a warm Friday and Saturday coming up we will spend the last part of the week prepping the course for play.  As a reminder, please tee off from the areas that have the winter tees, please change the pin location after you putt out and (as always) rake the bunkers, repair or fill your divots and fix ball marks on greens.
