As many of you most likely saw, it was a very busy week around the club. From the patio and parking lot projects, to sod, stump grindings and normal golf course maintenance - it has been a great week. The weather for the most part was great and the team once again knocked it out of the park.
We started off the week continuing to sod cart path edges around the course. On Monday the team also continued work on the new practice green. Here is Raul, Fernando and Diego walking every square inch of the practice green using top-dressing sand to fill in any imperfections on the surface to help reduce mechanical damage and ensure a smooth surface. We also sprayed our first fairway application of 2022 for Poa seed-head suppression. As with the greens application last week, this spray will prevent the Poa from seeding and help the Poa survive the summer months.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the team cleaned out all stump grinding debris. We will start filling the stump holes with fill dirt and prepping these areas for sod.
With the weather changing and with more play we decided to put out traffic control around the course. We are using the same wooded posts that we did last year for cart traffic control. We have added new posts for walker traffic around greens and walkways through the native areas. These post will help spread out wear on newly sodded areas and pinch points between bunkers. Please do not walk over these post. Please only walk to one side or the other. We will move these post daily as traffic permits.
The parking lot improvement project started off will a bang. Literally! The asphalt contractors started the week expanding the new cart staging area in front of the pro-shop. The concrete contractors completed the new pads at the maintenance shop and dumpster area on Tuesday.
Once the pro-shop area was prepped the asphalt contractors moved onto the front of the clubhouse and the maintenance shop. All the new additions and repairs to the parking lot were prepped on Wednesday. The contractors will finish repairing the maintenance shop areas on Friday and will begin laying the base coat of asphalt Saturday in preparation to start the milling process next Monday (weather permitting). Please be aware that there will be some parking disruption next week. Follow all signs and flaggers.
On Wednesday, the patio paver contractors returned for the final push on the patio project. The rain Thursday slowed them down but, with great weather Friday and next week, we should near the completion of the new outdoor space for the club. Once the patio is complete McDonald and Sons will be back to complete the 15th tee complex.
