Week of April 25th

With May right around the corner, the course is really shaping up.  If only Mother Nature could make up her mind.  Once again the weather this week has been unpredictable.

We started off the week working on the construction haul road between holes 13 and 18.  As projects start wrapping up around the course we will be grading topsoil, seeding and covering this area.  As it starts growing in, we would ask that you please keep golf carts out of this area and play it is as Ground Under Repair.

The last project of our 11-month construction is almost complete.  Last Friday we received more sod to start grassing the 15th tee complex.  Tuesday this week we finished the cart path shaping and got another truck of sod down.  The asphalt contractors started the installation of the new cart path on Thursday and will hopefully have the cart path completed by Monday next week.  Once the cart path is completed we will have one more truck of sod to complete this area.

This week the crew was able to get our first bunker detail completed.  As the weather warms up this process will be completed weekly.  The bunker detail process is all hands on deck.  The crew fly mows and push mows all surrounding areas of the bunker where the rough mowers are unable to mow.  After the surround areas are cut the crew will then weed eat an edge around the bunkers, blow all debris from sand and rake the bunkers.

This week we added a new intermediate height fairway cut on hole 3.  This lower cut of rough is intended to help recovery from shots hit short of the green.  We added irrigation to this area over the winter months to help keep this area nice throughout the year and with golf carts not allowed off the path on par 3's it should be able to handle the lower height of cut.

On Wednesday this week we started working on the new tees on hole 15.  Here is Fernando hand rolling and filling in all the sod seams.  We used over 600 pounds of sand to fill in the seams to allow the bent grass on the tees to fill in evenly.

Here we go again.  As temperatures fell in the low 30's at night we had to cover up the new Bermuda grass practice tee on short game area #2.  We will have the covers back off  Friday afternoon as the weather warms up for the weekend and we hope this is the last time we need the covers for the golf season.
