Week of Dec. 5th

Well it has been an awful week of weather.  Cold start to the week, on and off rain in the middle of the week and some uncertainty for the end of the week and the weekend.  The crew battled through the weather and has had a very busy and productive week.

Monday started off frosty so the team used the delay to start trimming back the fence.  We started in tighter areas where our machines are unable to fit.  Trimming back the fence is a long process but we will continue working around the course when the weather seems fit.  This is the first step so we can gain more access when using our boom lift to start tree work along the fence lines.

Once the frost lifted and the greens thawed out, we were able to complete our last aerification on the practice green.  Monday was the official closing date for the practice area.  We are pleased with the new practice green performance this year but will continue to play it safe by letting the young turf get some rest during the winter months.

On Tuesday we started the deep-tine process on all tees and approaches.  Here is Edwin using our new tractor and deep-tine aerator.  This machine allows us to punch hole up to 12 inches deep for better rooting and water movement.

The team was able to get another round of punching and seeding done on all the sodded areas around the course.  This will continue to help bust up the sod layer to promote better turf density.

We also used the rain this week to our advantage and power washed the bricks at the main entrance.  Fernando did an amazing job and the results from his efforts look great.

On Thursday the new siding for the maintenance shop arrive.  This project will be a great upgrade to the shop and the overall appearance from the 18th hole.  Depending on weather this project should be completed in the next 2 weeks.

As you are playing this week you will see that the team has started applying compost to high traffic areas and all sodded rough.  Composting these areas will help relieve soil compaction.

This week we went to winter tees and double cups on the greens.  As a reminder please only tee off from areas that have the tee markers and please rotate the pin when you are finished putting out.

Lastly, with the rainy weather we have been having, we canceled the drill-and-fill process for this week.  We have rescheduled for the week of December 19th.  We will continue to update everyone on this process.
