Week of April 17th
What a roller-coaster ride this weather has been lately. Record high temps and we had some frosty mornings. The course is really starting to shape up for the spring. The crew had another great week.
The team started off the week wrapping up creating new planting beds at the pool and finished painting the shop. The new clubhouse plantings are complete and we are just waiting for the annual flowers to come which will be the first week of May.
We continued working on texture the first part of this week brush cutting greens. We will be brush cutting every week during the spring. Brush cutting helps stand the grass up to get a better quality of cut. We will only brush cut during the beginning of the weeks so green speeds will be better for the weekends. Standing the grass up does slow the greens down a bit.
This week we completed our spring pre- and post-emergent herbicide applications in all native areas. The warm winter has put the new native areas behind but we started to see positive signs this week.
Also this week we completed our irrigation audit. We had some minor issues to address but as of now we are 100% operational and the irrigation system is ready for the season.
With the warmer weather we continued monitoring and hydrating bunker faces. With the lack of snow this winter, the warmer temperatures and current drought situation it has been a challenge to keep certain areas wet. Hopefully with the rain forecasted on Saturday these areas will start to bounce back.
Lastly, the team will spend the last part of the week focused on details and getting ready for the weekend. I hope to see everyone at the club and have a great rest of your week.
