Week of June 19th

This week was a weather watching week.  We had been missing all the rain and with the forecast of rain this week the crew was doing their rain dances.  It has been a tough second half of spring and the team have been battling through, day in and day out.  This week was no different.  The crew did an amazing job this week and we were all happy to get a little break from dragging hoses.

We started off this week doing what we have been doing for the last couple months.  The team continued dragging hoses on every playing surface around the club.

With the forecasted rain for late in the week we switched gears in the middle of the week to help the course when the rain did arrive.  We vented all greens to help relieve compaction and allow water and air to move easier throughout the greens' profile.

After greens venting was complete we applied wetting agent, soil conditioner and protected our roots with a root fungicide.  Also we were able to spray all fairways, tees and the primary rough with wetting agent and fertilizer.

The team also completed topdressing on all greens and applied a soil conditioner to high traffic areas that have been getting beat up during this dry spell.

We continued working on lowering the heights on the new tees this week.  We planned on opening these areas this week but we have held off until after the rain to make sure they can take the traffic and divots.

Lastly, this week we finally received the 3 remaining pieces of equipment we ordered 2 years ago.  We received a new top-dresser and 2 new greens triplexes.  This equipment will increase efficiency in our day-to-day operations.
