Week of Sept. 11th
What a difference a week makes. Last week we were battling record high heat and lack of rain. This week we finally received much needed rain and the temperatures are dropping. The team was glad to have some time off dragging hoses and they had a very productive week even with some rainy days.
The team was able to knock out detail work early in the week due to the rain. They completed stream trimming and a complete bunker trim.
The weather reports were calling for some more rain Tuesday evening so we decided to top-dress greens before the rain.
After the storms Tuesday evening dropped over 2 inches of rain we were back to detail work. We were able to spot spray weeds in the native areas and had 5 irrigation repairs to complete.
With all the heat we had last week and the rain this week we sent the spiker back out on Thursday morning. This process included a cut of the greens followed by the spiker and finally a roll. This will help let the greens breathe and dry up.
The teams effort last week keeping the seed in the new native areas wet has paid off. We starting seeing seedlings popping in every hole this week.
Also this week we had to send the blowers and leaf vacuum out a little earlier than expected. The drought has put a hurting on some of our trees around the course. The leaves on the trees started wilting last week and with the rain this week they started to fall.
Lastly, the team will be spending the rest of the week getting ready for a beautiful weekend of golf.
