Week of Oct.30th
It was a roller coaster of weather this week. The week started with temperatures well above average and then rain showers, flurries and frost. The team had a great last week of October.
We started off the week spraying greens, tees and fairways with wetting agent to help with the continued dry soil conditions. It is important to keep the plants hydrated before the grass goes dormant. This has been a challenge and we are once again on the drought map, having received less than 1 inch of rainfall during the month of October.
The leaves have finally started to fall. The team's main focus this week was leaf clean-up. This is a long battle that the team will be dealing with for the next couple weeks.
While the team waited out frost, they were able to knock out a few winter items this week. They split firewood from last year's tree work and installed more bricks around the 15th tee complex.
With the dry conditions this year it was easy to identify some areas where the trees are outcompeting the grass for water. The team also started some root pruning this week. We will continue to identify where root pruning is needed.
