Week of July 29th

Last week of July and the start of a new month.  This week dialed up more of the same: Hot and Dry.  As I'm writing this we are currently over 40 days with above 90 degree temperatures and now in a moderate/severe  drought.  A number of storms rolled by the club this week but nothing fell out of the sky, which might be a good thing with temperatures forecasted in the mid 90's later this week and the weekend.  The team has been doing an amazing job keeping up with this weather.  I am very proud of our team and their efforts day in and day out.

The above pictures pretty much sum up what every day has been.  The team has been checking all playing surfaces every morning for adequate moisture to help the plants make it through the day.

We had 3 irrigation breaks that all popped up in one day. Fernando, Eddie and Diego were on top of all needed repairs.

We completed another soil application on greens to keep the Pythium Root Rot in check.  Most areas have bounced back with a couple areas still needing some more recovery time.

The dry weather has showed the team some results from root pruning in the off season.  In the picture above you can see the straight line from the root pruner and how well the rough looks to the right.

For the remainder of the week the team will continue to grind through this next - and hopefully the last - heat wave.
