Week of February 24th

What a beautiful week.  For the last week of February you couldn't ask for better weather.  The team had a great week.   The team started off the week completing the final hole on bunker edging and started landscape improvements around the clubhouse grounds.  Miss Utility has marked the area and we hope to finish this project next week.   With the warmer weather this week the crew looked into and repaired an irrigation issue left over from last season.   Also this week stump holes have been cleaned out and we have started backfilling the holes with fresh topsoil.  These areas will be sodded or seeded over the next few weeks.   The NWS updated their Drought Monitoring Map this week.  It is crazy to think after the rain and snow this winter we have been upgraded to a severe drought.  This drought started last year and we are currently almost 10 inches behind in rainfall.   Lastly, this week the team com...

The weather once again was the story this week. Cold and windy at the start of the week, followed by snow, then one day of warm up and cold at the end of the week.  Our team continued to stay productive this week despite the weather.   Before the snow returned, the team spent the start of the week continuing to work on bunkers.  They were able to knock out another 6 holes with only holes 3 and 5 remaining.   Our tree company was back out this week to grind the stumps from the 4 trees that were removed this winter.  Once the snow melts and ground conditions improve the team will clean up the debris and backfill the stump holes.   The snow returned Tuesday evening dropping a little over 4 inches.  Wednesday morning the crew concentrated on snow removal and ice patrol.   Our Equipment Technician Fernando continues to work on preventive maintenance on all the equipment.  Fernando is close to the finish line on all winte...

It was a flip flop week.  The start of the week was very warm and mild followed by cold and icy.  The snow did melt off the course this week but the icy weather on Thursday has the course soaked and covered in a thin layer of ice.  Our team was busy outside with the warm weather but then had to retreat inside at the end of the week.   The team started working on bunkers this week.  We are edging back the bunkers to the original gravel line.  This will help with balls staying off the grass faces and keep the bunker liner free of contamination.   Also this week the team has continued shop upgrades.  New floors have been installed and a coat of fresh paint has the shop looking clean and bright. This small but important project has the entire team in good spirits.   Thanks for reading.
