Week of April 25th

With May right around the corner, the course is really shaping up.  If only Mother Nature could make up her mind.  Once again the weather this week has been unpredictable.   We started off the week working on the construction haul road between holes 13 and 18.  As projects start wrapping up around the course we will be grading topsoil, seeding and covering this area.  As it starts growing in, we would ask that you please keep golf carts out of this area and play it is as Ground Under Repair.     The last project of our 11-month construction is almost complete.  Last Friday we received more sod to start grassing the 15th tee complex.  Tuesday this week we finished the cart path shaping and got another truck of sod down.  The asphalt contractors started the installation of the new cart path on Thursday and will hopefully have the cart path completed by Monday next week.  Once the cart path is completed we will have one more truck of sod to complete this area.  This week the crew was able

Ok I don't know about you but we are getting tired of this weather.  We have had it all this week.  Warm, cold, rain and even some snow showers.  The weather doesn't know what to do.    With the cold start to the week we were able to complete some small projects.  Fernando and Eddie installed a traffic matt on hole #1 to help with foot traffic leading to 1 green. Please only walk on the traffic matt when entering and exiting 1 green. If we like the results, we will install more around the course.  Also we prepped the vault next to 13 tee so we can repair the water line leading to the pool house.  After being delayed early in the week because of rain, shaping is now complete on the 15 tee complex. Irrigation for 15 tee was installed on Thursday adding 10 more heads to cover not only the new tee boxes but all the surrounding areas of the patio.  We will start laying grass on Friday and should be completed on Monday next week.  The last step is the installation of the new cart pat

What a beautiful week.  It is starting to feel like Spring.  The course is finally greening up and the grass is starting to grow.   We started off this week finishing our tee aerification from the previous week and sneaking in another round of aerification on the new practice green.  We are still scheduled to open the new short game area in about a month and will keep everyone updated on the exact opening date.   On Tuesday we were able to fire up the new irrigation on the short game area by 13 tee.  This was a huge upgrade for the maintenance team.  The new irrigation in this area will save a lot of man hours per week.  Previous to this irrigation upgrade, all the grass on the short game area was watered by hand with hoses and portable sprinklers.   The team was able to lay another truck load of sod this week.  We focused on stump grinding areas, high traffic areas from winter play, and damaged areas from construction.      On Thursday Matt and the team started checking our ag

What an awful week of weather. From bitter cold and snow showers to a warm up but rain.  The weather this week has made it tough to wrap up the many projects going on around the club.   We started off the week working around the clubhouse parking lot.  We started working on the tie ins for the new cart path on holes 12 and 13.  We were also able to create the new planting bed at the 10th tee.  Plant material and mulch will be delivered today and we should have time to complete this area for the weekend. Once the weather allowed, the crew was able to complete the last two drainage projects before spring actually shows up.  They were able to connect the exit drain from the new practice area to an existing drain between holes 1 and 9.  We also tackled the "Spring" in front of 1 tee.   On Thursday we continued working on our new sodded areas.  We were able to apply soil conditioner to all sodded areas to help with compaction and root development. The parking lot project has been
