This week the course remained covered with snow.  The maintenance team had another great week on and off the course.   The team spent most mornings inside the shop continuing to repair and refurbish our course accessories.  This week the team completed replacement of broken tee markers and making new traffic control.    This time of year our equipment managers are at their busiest.  Every piece of equipment is looked over from front to back to make sure it is safe and ready for the season.  And we are sure to fix any issues we identify that need to be addressed. When the team was able to get back out on the course they continued cutting down stumps.  Our tree contractor is scheduled to come back out next week to pick up where they left off grinding stumps.   Also this week the team worked on the area left of the cart path on the 6th tee box.  This area was overgrown with underbrush.  The team fought through the snow cover to remove all the underbrush and open this area up.  Not only

Cold and snowy was the theme this week.  It had been over 700 days since our area has had over 1 inch of snow - and this week we received a little over 5 inches.  The snow was a nice surprise and with temperatures in the low teens at night the snow is a nice blanket for the grass.  Even with the course covered the maintenance team had a very busy week.   On Monday morning the team started out the day focusing on snow removal in the parking lot before heading out on the course.   After the parking lot and clubhouse areas were clear of snow the team took care of the two very dangerous trees to the right of #1 green.  These two trees were in very poor condition and completely rotten in the middle.     Also on Monday we had our tree contractor come out and start grinding stumps around the property.  They were able to get 20 stumps taken care of on their first day.  We have not been able to continue stump grinding this week due to the snow cover.    Monday night into Tuesday morning was the

A mild but windy windy week.  This week we had nice afternoon temperatures, storms and wind everyday.  The team stayed busy and continues to knock items off the winter work list.   The team started off the week thinning out the trees between 7 fairway and the cart path on hole 6.  This area has always been a tough area to grow grass.  Thinning out the overpopulation of trees will increase our chances to have a good stand of rough.   Also during the beginning of the week we started cutting down stumps around the course.  Stump grinding has been scheduled for the last 2 weeks but the heavy rains have made it tough to get the equipment on the course.  We are hoping to be able to start grinding stumps next Monday.  This week we did have a major storm roll through with high winds and almost 4 inches of rain.  The storm knocked down the huge Spruce behind the 6th green.  During our winter tree plan inspection this Spruce looked healthy and was one we planned on keeping but looks can be dec

Happy New Year from your maintenance team.  We hope everyone had a great holiday and a great new year.  2023 was a great year. Now that we have entered a new year our team is excited for 2024 and another great year at the Road.  Over the last couple weeks our team took some much needed time off with family.  This week everyone is back and hit the ground running.   The team started off the new year continuing on our winter tree plan.  This week we focused on safety issue trees.   After a long break we needed to get the course cleaned up.  The team took advantage of warmer afternoons this week to get the course blown off, cups cut and bunkers raked .  Also we put the first haircut of the new year on all playing surfaces.   Lastly, we wanted to include some pictures of the productive year we had in 2023. Thanks for reading.
