It was another productive week at the club.  The weather this week allowed the maintenance team to knock out our normal weekly maintenance and get some pre-summer tasks completed.   The team started off the week aerating fairway and new fairway expansions.  With the addition of the new tractor and large area aerator we completed all fairways by Tuesday afternoon.  Before we head into the summer months we like to punch the fairways with 3/4 inch solid tines to help with rooting and water infiltration.  After the mow on Wednesday the holes were not noticeable and should be all healed up by next week.    On Tuesday we continued working on the bermudagrass on the short game area between holes 12 and 13.  We punched with solid tines and top-dressed using a 7-2-1 sand mixture to help smooth out the area.  With rain forecasted on Friday we plan on fertilizing this area. It should be open for special events soon.   This week wasn't without its challenges.  Our ageing irrigation system sh

Chilly mornings, warm afternoons and a little rain.  This is the weather the grass loves.  It won't last for long with mid-summer heat rolling in today and through the weekend but the rollercoaster with return early next week.   We started off the week finishing the construction haul road between holes 13 and 18.  The team graded out the remaining topsoil, applied soil amendments, seed and covered it all up in straw matting.  We will need to keep this area wet while the seed germinates.  Please play this area as ground under repair and keep all golf carts off the straw matting.   With the grass finally growing we started working on texture.  This week we started brush-cutting greens and grooming tees and fairways.  This will help with the ball roll on the greens and smooth out fairways and tees.  Brush-cutting greens stands the grass up for a cleaner cut but will reduce green speeds temporarily.  We will try to only brush-cut in the beginning of the week so green speeds will be b

What a great week at The Road.  The weather seems to be finally turning the corner, and the course is really coming to life.  It was another busy week at the club, projects wrapping up and new projects starting. It is nice to finally say, that we started off the week with some normal routine maintenance.  Our weekly mowing schedule and weekly detail schedule is in full swing.   This week we were able to spray our pre-emergent, post-emergent, and grub control in all the rough.  This is a long task with almost 10 tanks going out this week.   This week we were able to scalp down the new bermuda-grass tee on short game area #2.  The bermuda-grass is really greening up and taking off.  It won't be long before it is ready to open up.  Also we created a walking path through the new native area on hole #3.  The path is wide enough for a foursome to walk side by side down to the bridge.  This path is for walking only, do not drive a golf cart down the walking path to the bridge.  This sho

This was a very busy week at the club.  Even with some weather challenges and hiccups the crew continues to knock it out of the park.    This week the crew was able to plant our seasonal flowers around the clubhouse grounds and golf course.  Here is Edgar and Papa Juan planting over 100 flats which is almost 1700 flowers.   After the rain Tuesday evening soften up the ground Eddie and Diego were able to get another round of aerification on all sodded areas from last year and this year.  This process will help with traffic wear, water infiltration, and rooting.  We will continue to work on these areas as weather permits.   This week we also started to see some new equipment arrive.  On the trailer is two aerators.  The equipment on the left is a large area aerator for fairways and rough.   The one to the right is a deep tine aerator for greens, tee, fairways and rough which will allow us to create a hole up to 14 inches deep.  With the current supply chain issues everyone has been see
