Another busy - but amazing - week at the club. The weather was perfect not only for golf but also for the maintenance team who had a very productive week.   This was a very heavy spray week for the crew.  We were able to spray our normal weekly application on greens but also had to spray tees twice this week, fairways, a soil spray on greens, primary rough and native areas.  Matt and the crew crushed it getting everything sprayed by Thursday morning.   On Tuesday we were able to apply a light topdressing of sand and hand brush the sand in.  This application helps smooth out the putting surface and protect the plant from traffic and mechanical damage.   The aerification equipment has been busy so far this year.  On Wednesday Eddie and Diego were able to punch all the new tee boxes from last year's project and also punch the new fairway and approach expansions.  We will continue working on these areas throughout the year as weather permits.   The team was able to trim and clean up

What a great week at the Road.  For the last full week in June the course is really coming together.  We had some challenges this week but as always the crew did an amazing job.   Now that the schoolyear has ended, all of our summer crew members have arrived.  It has been a struggle the last couple years finding summer help but this year has been different, with the addition of 5 new summer crew members.  We started off this week in training mode - training the new crew on mowing and getting around the property.  We have been blown away by how quickly these guys have picked up mowing, bunkers and detail work.   Beginning last weekend the weather has been really dry up until Wednesday's rain.  For the first part of the week we focused on water.  We use moisture meters on greens, tees and fairways every morning to ensure these areas are hydrated enough to get through the dry periods.   This week our ageing irrigation showed its ugly face.  We had 5 pipe breaks this week and irrigat

It was another great week for our maintenance team.  We were able to get through all of our normal weekly maintenance, perform some much needed cultural practices and even get some other tasks knocked off the list.   We started off the week aerating greens.  We used 1/4" inch solid tines on all 18 greens on the course and used 1/4" coring tines on the new practice green.  The crew did an amazing job knocking out all the greens Monday morning.   Right after the greens were punched we applied wetting agent, our first summer soil spray and watered all the products in.   Also in the beginning of the week we had our tree company come in to remove and limb up some trees along the fence on holes 2 and 4.  They were also able to limb the tree left of #8 green.   Between the rain showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday the crew was able to punch all the new fairway and approach expansions.  Also the weekly irrigation leak was repaired. (We should just put irrigation repairs on the week

Another great week at the club.  The week started off dry, then we received almost 3 inches of rain on Wednesday night and the weekend looks hit or miss.  The crew did an amazing job getting the course prepared every day and prepping for Member Guest. The week started off with all hands making sure greens, tees, fairways and rough were prepped for the dry weather.   Monday night we had our first "Divot Party" of the year.  We had more than 50 members attend, fixing ball marks and filling every tee and fairway divot.  Thank you to all the members who participated.  We can't wait to do it again.  This week we also were able to install the new wind screen at the pool.  Hopefully this will help keep out some of the debris from the parking lot.   We were able to fertilize all rough on Tuesday ahead of the midweek rains.  This will help our rough throughout the summer months.   If you wanted to know when it was going to rain next year, it's a safe bet to put it on the cal

We hope everyone had a great Memorial Day Weekend.  It was a hot and humid week as we started the summer season.   Now that spring has come and gone the maintenance team is switching into summer mode.  We started off the week continuing to work on texture on our greens with brush cutting and grooming.  We also were able to apply more amendments and granular wetting agent on bunker faces and sodded areas in preparation for the summer.   Matt and the team fixed the new irrigation line that settled over the spring and smoothed out the walk up area on the 7th green.   We heard over the last couple weeks that the new flag sticks were difficult to pick up with the yardage lasers and this week we finally received and installed the new prisms on top of the flag sticks.  This should fix any issues with picking up the yardage.   One of our crew members, Fernando Sixtos Grande, who has been working on the maintenance team for the last 4 years has taken an interest in becoming a golf course Equi
