Week of July 11th

After last week's and weekend's rain it was nice to see a beautiful and dry week.  For the middle of July the course is in great shape.  The team has been doing an amazing job week in and week out.

We started off the week playing catch up from the rainy weekend, mowing all surfaces and getting ready for a busy week of golf.

With our One-Day Member Guest this week the team crushed all detail work before the event.  We also were able to start working on the native area on hole 7, string trimming and spraying weeds that broke through the thinner areas.

The team and I have started a bet.  I feel at this rate we will be north of 100 irrigation repairs by the end of the irrigation season.  The team thinks we will be over 200.  I hope not.  We had another 6 repairs this week.

We got lucky this week with the storms that rolled through on Tuesday evening.  We only had minor debris and very little clean up to do.  Some courses in our area got crushed.  One course lost over 190 trees from the storms.

Also this week the stone masonry contractors that built the walls and steps to the patio were back.  They have started repairing mortar and bricks around the back of the clubhouse.  This is a long process that will take some time to complete.

With the dry weather this week we had to start using our portable sprinkler heads to irrigate some of the rough that does not have irrigation.  Most of these areas are high traffic areas where carts enter and exit the fairways on the back 9.

Lastly, I wanted to remind everyone that the chipping green on the short game area between holes 12 and 13 is only for chipping to, not chipping off.  Please do not chip off the green area.  Use the mats or the surrounding rough.  If you want to practice your chipping off the short grass please use the new practice fairway by the practice green.
