The course is finally showing its winter colors.  Another awesome and productive week at the club.  The weather has been hit or miss with rain Monday morning, sunny on Tuesday, rain/snow for Wednesday and blustery for the end of the week.   The guys used the rain Monday morning to our advantage power washing, waxing and detailing all of our equipment.   Also, this week the team continued edging and cleaning cart paths.  They finished the back 9 last week and moved over to the front 9 with the hopes of having everything edged and cleaned up by the end of the week.   We also continued trimming up trees around the course.  The main focus this week was the trees between the cart path on hole 6 and the fairway on hole 7.  Some of our trees are showing their age with tons of dead wood and signs of decline.   On Tuesday we started deep-tinning our greens and we were able to finish up Wednesday morning before the rain.  We used a 1/2" diameter by 14" deep tine on all the greens to

Another productive week around the course.  The weather this week has been good for us to knock off some items on the winter work list.  Hopefully we will see some colder weather soon as some items on our list need to have frozen ground conditions.   This week the team started edging cart paths around the course.  They were able to complete the back 9 cart paths this week and will be starting the front 9 next week.   We continued to use our boom lift around the property cutting low branches to increase sunlight for the turf - also for playability and removing any dead wood in the trees.  This process will continue for the next several week as weather allows.   This week the team also continued our winter tree program removing some white pines off the course that have been damaged from years of storms.  They also removed some trees along the fence line ahead of the fence project.   Lastly, the fence project was started this week.  A local fence company will be working over the next co

With the warm weather and the course drying out, it was a very productive week for the maintenance team.   We started off the week tackling some tree work. Some of the work is on the master plan opening up sight lines around the course and the other tree work that was caused by the Christmas week storms. On Tuesday and Wednesday the team switched gears and completed drainage work on hole #8.  The approach on the 8th hole is a wetter spot after rain events making it unsuitable to mow.  The crew added 2 lateral pipes connecting into an existing drain.    Also on Wednesday we continued improvements around the maintenance shop.  Juan and Marlon cleaned, etched and painted the old fading garage doors to match the new colors of the shop.   We took advantage of the warmer weather and dry course conditions to get ahead of forecasted rain storms on Thursday to mow tees, approaches and fairways.  After the mow Fernando was able to sneak in another application of topdressing sand on all tees an

Happy New Year.  It was a busy week playing catch up from vacation and the holidays. Most of this week the team concentrated on course clean up.  The wind storm that came through the weekend of Christmas left us with trees down and lots of debris.   After the course was cleaned up the team switched gears and started clearing all the bushes and trees around the clubhouse landscape beds.  We are starting over with the landscape at the clubhouse and will be replanting these areas to give the clubhouse a new fresh look.   Once all the plantings were removed Fernando and Edgar power washed the bricks at the clubhouse that were hidden by all the trees and bushes.   Lastly this week we took advantage of the warmer weather and finished two drainage projects.  These areas on hole 17 and hole 5 are old drainage that finally failed.  The crew had to identify where the problems where located, needed to replace the crushed pipes with new pipes and tie everything into our new drainage.   Thanks fo
