Week of Feb. 20th
Bonus days of golf in February. The weather this week was great for some golf. It has thrown the maintenance team some curveballs adjusting projects and practices with this unseasonal weather. The team had another great week in the shop and out on the course.
The team started off the week laying a truckload of sod repairing cart path edges, miscellaneous areas around the course and the walkways in the new native areas. Also, I can say this is the first time I have had to have the crew watering sod in February.
Last week we decided to get a jump start on our Fairy Ring issue we had last year and we continued working on the Fairy Ring this week. Last week we applied wetting agent to all the effected areas to start getting the water moving throughout these rings. This week we deep-tined and swallow punched these areas in preparation of a fungicide application for Friday. We will continue to work on these areas throughout the spring to help us fight this growing problem.
While the course was packed on Thursday we used that time to finish off most of our course accessories. Over the next couple weeks as we put course accessories out on the course you will see all the effort it takes to keep our accessories in tip top shape.
Lastly, during the end of this week you will see our contracted tree work in full swing. As the weather permits and ground conditions are favorable we will continue working our way around the course. Also we are still in contact with the SHA and BGE working on their part of the project and hopefully we will hear back from them soon.
