Week of April 10th

No winter, now no spring... This week we saw very hot weather for this early in the season. We jumped right into summer.  With the unexpected warm weather we had to change gears.  The team didn't miss a beat and had a great week.

We started off the week applying our first round of pre-emergent herbicides on greens, tees and fairways.  This is about a week or so earlier than we have done in the past due to the warmer weather.

We started an irrigation audit this week checking sprinkler head function.  We found a couple issues that the team addressed.  Knock on wood, with the 2 new pumps and electrical components we have not had any pipe issues so far this year.

Our tree contractor was out this week working on hole 6 and the nursery area.  After 4 days of work we have completed hole 6 with only 1 tree left to remove by 6 green.  This is a massive tree that our contractor will need to tackle from both inside and outside the fence.  We are waiting for the permit to close down Rolling Road.  We anticipate the work will be completed next week.  We will most likely have to close down hole 6 while the work is being completed.

With the warm weather and lack of rain this week we needed to start working on moisture.  Moisture this time of year is very important for spring green up and plant health.  We will continue to hydrate turf where needed until we have rain.

This week started our weekly detail assignments.  As you can see, with all the projects we have been working on and trying to complete, it was long over due.  The team knocked out a complete bunker trim and rake, course weed-eating and creek trimming.
