Week of Oct. 2nd

We had some great weather this week.  Chilly mornings, warm and sunny afternoons.  The team had a great week and is enjoying the first week of October.

We started off the week spraying.  Greens, tees and fairways were all due for an application.  Hopefully with the forecast of cooler weather this should be close to the last application on tees and fairways, with greens due for a couple more sprays.

The big project this week was preparing the old native areas for their winter spray applications.  We mowed and collected all clippings in the native areas.  We plan on making the first winter application next week.  As a reminder please continue to keep golf carts out of all native areas as these areas are very sensitive to cart traffic.

Also this week we started working on roughs.  The team started with the worst areas first, punching and seeding areas that receive the most traffic.  Most of these areas are on the back 9 where carts enter and exit the cart paths.

The remainder of the week the team will be catching up on all weekly details, mowing all the rough for a second time and getting ready for a great weekend of golf.

Lastly, as I stated in the last blog, the Bermuda-grass hitting area is now closed.  With the forecast of cooler weather next week it is important to let the Bermuda-grass harden off before winter with as little traffic as possible.
