Week of March 25th
For the last full week of March we had some typical March weather. Frosty mornings, highs in the 50's and a couple chilly damp days. The crew was excited this week wrapping up some winter projects, starting some normal spring practices and seeing the course continue to green up.
This week started off different and will be remembered forever. The team was shocked (as was everyone) to hear the news of the tragic collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on Tuesday morning. Seeing the Key Bridge every morning at sunrise was a nice treat that will be missed.
The team's main focus this week was punching all the fairways before the rain. The crew did an amazing job fighting frost delays every morning and even finished the last couple fairways in the rain on Wednesday. After the fairways were punched we followed behind with the mowers to smooth everything out.
The team was able to finish the areas behind 3 green, between holes 6/7 and hole 14 where trees had been removed. They spent a couple days spreading topsoil, seeding and covering these areas with straw matting. They finished with perfect timing, laying the last of the straw matting as the rain started.
The team wanted to thank the members that surprised us with a great lunch this week. The team was blown away by the generosity and were greatly appreciative.
Lastly, for the remainder of the week the crew will be focused on detail work around the course to get ready for the Ham Shoot this Saturday and for what looks like a great weather weekend for golf.
