Week of April 22nd

It was a beautiful weather week at The Road.  We did have 3 frosty mornings, but things warmed up fast every day with nice afternoons.  The Maintenance Team was in full swing this week, accomplishing normal weekly tasks, starting our spring aerification and working on some smaller projects around the club.

This week marked the first week of our weekly work on greens texture.  We started Monday off with verti-cutting, top-dressing and brushing in sand on all greens and approaches.  Throughout the spring the team will continue to work on greens texture every Monday to help keep greens smooth and firm.

This week the team also completed our spring aerification on tee boxes.  They were able to punch, top-dress, verti-cut and brush/roll all tees in one day.  We are very happy with the results and this will help ensure our tees have a great season.

Irrigation repairs from our spring audit continued this week.  The team has completed about 95% of all repairs.  With the irrigation expansions we completed in the off season and most repairs completed, we will be testing the entire system this week to make sure everything is working properly

Also this week we prepared our Bermuda grass practice tee for a herbicide application that will eliminate any weeds that come up from the winter and got the first cut on the new fairway nursery we established last fall.

The team found some time this week to complete a small drainage project on hole 16.  This area by the creek always held water for days after rain events.

The new trees for the Orchard finally came in this week and the team wasted no time installing 20 new fruiting trees.  This is the first round of tree plantings at the Orchard.  We have more trees scheduled to arrive to continue the expansion of this area.

Lastly, the team will be switching gears at the end of the week concentrating on a full course mow out to get ready for the weekend.
