Week of March 10th
What a great week of weather. Chilly mornings and warm afternoons was the story this week. The team had an very busy week finishing winter projects and getting the course ready for handicap season.
We started off the week soil testing greens, tees and fairways with a new technology called RX-360. This type of soil test not only gives us recommendations on what is needed to be applied, it also pinpoints certain areas for targeted fertilizer and soil amendment applications.
The big project this week was the irrigation upgrades and expansions on holes 6 and 11. A little over 17,000 feet of wire was plowed into the fairways and rough to wire up 30 new sprinklers. These sprinklers were added to help water areas of the fairways outside the our existing sprinklers.
After the wire was installed the team watered, rolled and tamped the trenches from the vibratory plow.
The last steps to this upgrade involved adjusting the new sprinklers and sodding all areas. There is still work to be done smoothing out some areas but the team should have it wrapped up by the end of the week.
Lastly, for the remainder of the week our team will be focused on getting the course ready for handicap season and switching gears to aerification of fairways.
