Week of August 3rd
Good Bye July and Hello August. This week started summer aerification. It was a tough week with heavy rain last Sunday slowing the process down and a monsoon in the middle of the week stopping us in our tracks. Even with the weather not helping, the team did an amazing job getting greens and tees completed.
The team had to switch gears on Monday due to the rain. We usually top-dress and deep tine before we pull cores but the greens were too soft for heavy tractors and top-dressers. Instead we pulled cores and had to back blow the cores in lines and shovel the cores into carts.
Also on Tuesday the team was able to complete all aerification processes on tees.
We were hoping to be able to punch approaches and practice fairways on Wednesday but Mother Nature had a different plan. We received 2 inches of rain, flooding the course and stopping us from completing the rest of aerification.
Lastly, Turfrad is in full swing now and the information we are receiving from the scans is incredible. The team has been collecting data every day, analyzing the data, checking the data in the field and starting to put it into use. After just a couple of weeks dialing things in the team feels comfortable that this will be a great tool to have going forward.
Thanks for reading.
