Another busy week for your maintenance team.  A little summer heat and humidity has finally arrived.  We did receive storms last weekend and the beginning of this week which gave the team a break from dragging hoses but there was a lot of catching up to do this week.  To no one's surprise the crew knocked this week out of the park.   The teamed played catch up at the beginning of the week having to mow and spray all playing surfaces before the next round of rain.   We applied another round of top-dressing to all greens this week in anticipation of heavy storms.  The storms this week gave us a break from watering and a chance to catch up on details around the course.  The team was able to mow surrounds twice this week, check all sand depths in the bunkers, continued making sure our green edges stay consistent, trim creeks and touch up all string trimming. Most of the new sod from the tee projects is doing well and opened for play.  We are having a little trouble with drying out th

This week was a weather watching week.  We had been missing all the rain and with the forecast of rain this week the crew was doing their rain dances.  It has been a tough second half of spring and the team have been battling through, day in and day out.  This week was no different.  The crew did an amazing job this week and we were all happy to get a little break from dragging hoses.   We started off this week doing what we have been doing for the last couple months.  The team continued dragging hoses on every playing surface around the club.   With the forecasted rain for late in the week we switched gears in the middle of the week to help the course when the rain did arrive.  We vented all greens to help relieve compaction and allow water and air to move easier throughout the greens' profile. After greens venting was complete we applied wetting agent, soil conditioner and protected our roots with a root fungicide.  Also we were able to spray all fairways, tees and the primary

Another amazing week of weather for golf.  The lower temperatures and low humidity are hurting our unirrigated areas - but the weather has been enjoyable!!  The maintenance team had another busy week with normal weekly practices and continuing to fight the growing drought.   The team started off the week continuing to battle through this drought.  They have been pulling hoses, day in and day out, to help keep areas hydrated where our irrigation system can't.   Monday afternoon we did get a little relief with a quick .33" of rain which brings our total since May 1st to .85".  This is still well below the average rainfall and we are over 13 inches behind our year-to-date average.  The team took advantage of having a day off pulling hoses to work on some details we were behind on.  We were also able to get the rough mower out for the first time in over 2 weeks.   Also this week we had the opportunity to mow and roll the new tees and run-off area on holes 3, 16, 17.  The ru

What a week it has been.  The maintenance team has been super busy this week running around watering, finishing projects, starting new projects, irrigation repairs and normal weekly maintenance.  It's no surprise that the team crushed it.    I wanted to start this week's blog thanking our team.  Their efforts during these dry couple months have been unbelievable.  They continued this week watering greens, tees, fairways, rough and sod every day.  We will have to continue with a lot of hand watering until we get some relief.  Please keep an eye out for cart restrictions in the rough as our irrigation system doesn't cover many areas outside the fairways.    This week we started to see our summer help arrive.  We have 2 new additions to the team this year.  They both jumped right into training and have been learning the in's and out's of our weekly maintenance.   Painting of the proshop started this week and it is turning out great.  The painters should be wrapped up
