What a beautiful week of weather.  Leaves are finally changing color but you wouldn't think we were in late October with the temperatures this week.  The grounds team had a very busy week, still dealing with grass growing, leaves falling and completing some fall projects.   On Monday and Tuesday the team completed a deep verti-cut on fairways.  This is a major process to complete in two days with all hands on deck.  This process starts with running the verti-cut unit across the fairways to remove thatch and organic matter.  After the verti-cut we then blow all the debris off the fairways into the rough where we then clean the debris with our Turf Tidy vacuum.  Once the fairways are clean the last step in the process is to dry cut the fairways clipping off the grass that is standing up.  Also during the first part of the week the team continued our fall and winter herbicide applications in the new native areas with another round of a pre-emergent herbicide followed by a heavy wate

The weather this week was hit-and-miss.  Most days were cloudy and chilly with the sun only peaking out for short periods of time.  The end of the week looks mostly the same with some rain moving in late Friday.  Our team had a great week and, with grass-growing slowing down, we are starting to switch gears.   The team started off the week with a light top-dressing on greens.  They also trimmed down all the ornamental grasses around the property and finished fertilizing high traffic areas.   This week the team completed our fall aerification on tees and practice areas.  The process started with a heavy application of sand followed by a 3/4" solid tine followed by a deep verti-cut.  The team then dragged in the sand and cleaned up the thatch that was removed.    Thanks for reading.

Another beautiful weather week at the club.  The team took advantage of the nice weather and had an amazing week.   We started off the week working on greens texture.  During the first couple days this week we groomed, brushed and double cut the greens helping stand the grass up for a nice clean cut.   The team also continued working on the rough this week.  They were able to punch, seed and drag all sodded areas and thin areas from the last couple years of projects.  The plan will be to fertilize these areas before this weekend's rain.   Now that the nursery is all filled in from the seeding we completed a couple weeks ago the crew worked on lowering the height of cut and smoothing out the surface with a heavy application of topdressing.  We will continue to work on the nursery over the next couple weeks so we will be able to harvest the sod for winter projects.   Also this week the team was able to work on all fairway expansions and the practice fairway.  They solid punched and

We had some great weather this week.  Chilly mornings, warm and sunny afternoons.  The team had a great week and is enjoying the first week of October.   We started off the week spraying.  Greens, tees and fairways were all due for an application.  Hopefully with the forecast of cooler weather this should be close to the last application on tees and fairways, with greens due for a couple more sprays.   The big project this week was preparing the old native areas for their winter spray applications.  We mowed and collected all clippings in the native areas.  We plan on making the first winter application next week.  As a reminder please continue to keep golf carts out of all native areas as these areas are very sensitive to cart traffic. Also this week we started working on roughs.  The team started with the worst areas first, punching and seeding areas that receive the most traffic.  Most of these areas are on the back 9 where carts enter and exit the cart paths.   The remainder of t
