It was a beautiful weather week at The Road.  We did have 3 frosty mornings, but things warmed up fast every day with nice afternoons.  The Maintenance Team was in full swing this week, accomplishing normal weekly tasks, starting our spring aerification and working on some smaller projects around the club.   This week marked the first week of our weekly work on greens texture.  We started Monday off with verti-cutting, top-dressing and brushing in sand on all greens and approaches.  Throughout the spring the team will continue to work on greens texture every Monday to help keep greens smooth and firm.   This week the team also completed our spring aerification on tee boxes.  They were able to punch, top-dress, verti-cut and brush/roll all tees in one day.  We are very happy with the results and this will help ensure our tees have a great season.   Irrigation repairs from our spring audit continued this week.  The team has completed about 95% of all repairs.  With the irrigation expan

Another beautiful spring week.  We did have some storms roll through in the middle of the week but they didn't stop our team from having a very busy and productive week.   We started off the week preparing for a Mid-Atlantic PGA stroke play event.  There were over 100 golf professionals that played in the event. While the pros were out on the course Monday, the team spent time finishing mulching and completing detail work around the clubhouse and parking lot areas. This week was a big spray week for our team.  We were able to spray our first round of wetting agent and pre-emergent herbicides on greens, tees and fairways - followed by spraying our native areas with plant growth regulators.  We are trying plant growth regulators this year in the native areas for chemical thinning.  This will help keep the density/growth down and will prevent the plants from seeding and propagating.   The chemical applications on greens, tees and fairways all needed to be watered in after applied.

What a beautiful weather week.  The team was busy this week focusing on spring tasks.   Team started off the week spraying greens, tees and fairways.  We were also able to get our first spray of the year in all native areas.   Also this week we started our flower bed cleaning and applied pre-emergent weed control in preparation for mulch next week.   There was a lot of irrigation work this week.  The team spent a couple days starting our spring irrigation audit.  Focusing on green surround heads making sure all heads are adjusted and working properly.   The team was able to fertilize all tee boxes, practice areas and green surrounds on Thursday this week.   Out with the old and in with the new.  This week was a big week in the shop.  We were able to remove our old lift and install our new one.  Now the mechanic's area is 100% operational.   I wanted to remind everyone that no matter what time of year it is, golf carts are not allowed in high grass areas.   Thanks for reading.

If the old saying is true, then the flowers in May will be beautiful.  Wet and soggy week, with heavy rains every day.  We had 4.5" in the rain gauge on Thursday morning with more forecasted for Thursday evening and Friday morning.  The team was stuck inside most of the week working on shop improvements and course accessories but when the rain let up they tried their best to get work done on the course.   The team started off the week applying fertilizer to all the rough before the rain set in.   The rain didn't let up much this week but when it did the team worked on some cart path areas.  They first worked on the cart path next to the 18th green, removing tree roots and patching the areas.  Also they added another section of bricks to the cart path turn by 1 green.   Our new shop lift arrived this week and will be installed the middle of next week.  This is a much needed upgrade to the shop, as our old lift was over 30 years old and becoming unsafe to use.   Once the rain
